2023 | 2024 Tournament Sport Schedule

EDMONTON, AB – The Concordia Thunder Tournament Sport teams reached major milestones throughout the 2022-23 season. Athletes from Cross-Country, Golf, Badminton, and Curling exceeded expectations throughout the year, with 5 teams making it all the way to the CCAA Nationals across Canada.

The 23/24 season will start off with the Cross-Country Running Grand Prix on September 9th hosted by your very own Concordia Thunder. Next up, the runners will head south to compete in Calgary hosted by the SAIT Trojans on September 16th. They will then head to the third Grand Prix of the season on September 30th in Lethbridge, hosted by the Kodiaks, and the fourth and final Grand Prix in Augustana on October 14th. Runners will then compete for the ultimate title in the ACAC Cross-Country Championships, hosted by the Lethbridge Kodiaks, on October 28th.

The Thunder Golf season kicks off with the North Regionals here in Edmonton, at the Jagare Ridge Golf Course. The tournament takes place September 9th and 10th and is sure to be an exhilarating weekend. Jagare Ridge is known for “Mountain Golf, In the City”, and will be an exciting challenge. They will then head to Medicine Hat on September 17th and 18th to compete in the South Regionals at the Desert Blume Golf Course. This will surely be a shift in the elements from mountain to desert, as golfers push their abilities before the championship round. The ACAC Golf Championships are taking place at the Alberta Springs Golf Resort in Red Deer, where golfers will put it all on the line to take home the prestigious championship title.

The Badminton season begins back on Concordia’s home court for the first tournament, on November 19th. After the winter break, athletes will head south to Calgary for tournament #2 hosted by the SAIT Trojans. The third and final tournament before the finals will take place at the Kings’ University, hosted by the Eagles. After three crucial tournaments, badminton athletes will then compete for the ultimate title in the ACAC Championships, hosted by the NAIT Ooks, on February 17th and 18th.

The Thunder Curling teams will look to defend their 2023 championship titles, starting off in Vermillion with tournament #1 hosted by the Lakeland Rustlers on November 24th-26th. They will come back from the winter break for the second tournament of the season, hosted by the NAIT Ooks, January 19th-21st. Heading into the finals, Thunder will compete on February 23rd-25th in the ACAC Championships, hosted by the SAIT Trojans.

 

The Thunder Indoor Track teams will head to the races beginning in January, with the first Grand Prix hosted by your Thunder on the 27th. They will then head to Red Deer to compete in the second Grand Prix on February 10th. The ACAC Championships will take place once again at the U of A Butterdome, where our top racers will compete for the coveted championship title, on March 16th and 17th.

The upcoming season will be action-packed and full of exciting tournaments throughout the year. Thunder Athletes will look to continue on their success from the 22/23’ season while pushing their performances to the next level.
